India-UK free trade agreement will be the best way to celebrate Diwali. According to British High Commissioner, the best way to celebrate Diwali will be to have a right free trade agreement between India and the United Kingdom. He marked that the free trade agreement (FTA) will lead to the creation of more jobs, development, and prospects for both India and the UK.
Speaking on the sidelines of an event, he declared that there was a "high purpose" to complete the India-UK FTA by Diwali a deadline set earlier by both nations he added, "that would be an auspicious date". Earlier addressing an Assocham conference, Ellis said: "We have the purpose to finalize the FTA by Diwali."
Also, speaking at the conference, Joint Secretary in the Commerce and Industry Ministry Rajendra Ratnoo expressed leaders from the countries "are very very committed towards this FTA and have set a very, very ambitious objective of gifting to the people of the two sides very optimistically by the end of October, as a Diwali gift."
He also expressed that a major part of the trade deal has been struck out while certain areas remain that are being discussed. Elaborating on the potential advantages emanating from India from the FTA with the UK, he expressed it is expected to provide certainty, predictability, and transparency and will make a more facilitative and competitive services authority."The FTA is expected to provide a major thrust to Indian exports in labor-intensive sectors like leather textile jewellery and processed agro.
