Bangladesh’s export-import activities with India through Benapole Port suspended . Even
though the immigration department's operations at the port would continue as
usual during this time, Bangladesh Import Export activities with India through the Benapole land port will be
halted for four days until October 5 (Wednesday).
According
to reports citing the concerned port officials, this is true.
While
this was going on, Kartik Chakraborty, general secretary of the Petrapole
C&F Agents Staff Welfare Association, reportedly told the media that all
export-import trade from the Indian side of the Petrapole-Benapole border would
be suspended from October 2 to October 5 due to the Durga Puja holiday, and
that it would only resume on October 6.
The
Immigration Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Benapole, Abul Kalam Azad, on his part,
reportedly, underlined due to Puja holidays, the movement of passengers to and
from India will remain normal even if transportation of goods will remain
suspended.
